Careers FAQ
Careers FAQ

You have questions, our FAQ (hopefully) has answers…

How do I apply for a role at Insitu?

Submit your application to Insitu via the Insitu careers page and complete the pre-employment screening questions. Email us here.

How can I correct my pre-employment answers if I made a mistake?

If you received a letter from the Talent Acquisition (TA) group that you were rejected due to the screening questions and you believe this was in error, reapply and provide the corrected answers to the questions.

If you made a mistake to any other part of your application advise the TA group to make the correction.

How can I see where my application is in the process?

You will be able to review your application and see where it is in the process (New, In-Review, Interview, etc) through the application portal. If you aren’t selected at any step in the process, you will be notified either via email or a phone call from the recruiter.

What happens after I submit my application to an opening?

The Recruiter reviews every resume that is submitted. If your qualifications meet the requirements, the recruiter will review your resume and reach out to schedule a prescreening call. There are many variables to hiring, so the timeline from when you apply to when you are contacted can vary.

During the prescreening call the recruiter asks about your experience, education and discusses the role you applied to. They also discuss the logistics of coming to work at Insitu (commute/relocation) and answer any questions you may have about working for Insitu and/or our benefits package. We are proud of our comprehensive benefits package and love to talk about it! If you would need to relocate, now is a great time to start asking any questions you may have, such as if relocation assistance is available, what the package entails and if you qualify. Now is when you’ll want to research the area you would be relocating to.

What happens after the recruiter prescreen?

If there is a potential match, the recruiter forwards your resume and their summary of the prescreening call to the hiring manager. The recruiter will advise you during the prescreening call if they will be forwarding on your resume.

How long will it take to hear back, after the recruiter forwards my resume to the hiring manager?

Typically it takes 1-2 weeks for feedback from the hiring manager; however, that can change based on an array of variables. When in doubt, ask your recruiter for an estimated timeline and don’t hesitate to reach out to the recruiter for an update. We know waiting is the hardest part, so we welcome your email or call! Likewise, we know you’re running a job search process, too, so please let us know when your status changes.

What is the interview process?

If the hiring manager feels there is a potential fit, the recruiter reaches out to you to schedule a preliminary phone screen with the hiring manager. The recruiter works with you on a time/date that works for all parties, and lets you know how much time to allocate for the interview.

Prepare well! This is your opportunity to explain to the hiring manager why you are a fit for this role, and to get a stronger understanding of what this role will entail! We want you to love the job, too!

After the phone interview, if the call is successful, we bring you onsite for an in-person interview. One of our interview coordinators reaches out to schedule a date/time for you to visit the office and meet with the hiring team. If you’re coming from out-of-town, we also coordinate and pay for your travel and expenses. The hiring manager will often wait until all phone interviews are complete to make this decision.

Depending on when in the process you had your phone interview, the time between the phone interview and receiving feedback could be a few days to a couple of weeks. You should be getting regular updates from your recruiter; however, feel free to reach out to them directly for a status update. Now is the time to start thinking about start dates, making sure to factor in the logistics of moving (if relocating).

What happens after the interviews are completed?

At this stage, the hiring manager decides if they are going to extend an offer. Sometimes a decision is made within a few days; sometimes it could take up to several weeks to allow the hiring team to meet with all candidates before making a final decision. When the decision is made, the recruiter lets you know an offer is coming while we work out the details. Getting the finalized offer may take time, too, so stay close to your recruiter. We don’t ask where else you’re interviewing, but let your recruiter know where you are in your process with other companies, particularly if you have other offers pending.

Will I be informed if I’m not selected?

Yes, you will be notified via email or phone call by the recruiter if you aren’t selected at any step in the process.

What is the hiring process if an offer is extended?

Once we have all the details of the offer, your recruiter will extend it to you verbally. This is your opportunity to ask any remaining benefits questions you may have. At this point, you can either verbally accept, or if you want some time to think over the offer, you have one week (7 days) from the verbal offer to accept or decline. If, after the 7 days, we don’t have an answer, the offer may be withdrawn.

What is the onboarding process?

Once we get a verbal acceptance and a start date has been determined, an offer letter is sent via Workday, a notification email is sent to the address you used when you initially applied to the role. If your email address has changed, make sure to advise your recruiter no later than the offer stage so they can update your record.

You can sign the offer letter online via Workday. Once you sign it and click “Done,” the signed offer letter is sent automatically to the recruiter and a copy will be stored in your workday account, you will also have the ability to download a copy for your records. The day after, you sign your offer letter log back into your application to complete the final conflict of interest questionnaire in Workday.

1-2 business days after you sign your offer letter, you receive an email with a link from our Background Investigation (BI) vendor, Open Online, to begin the BI.

After you have completed the BI request form, you receive an email with instructions on how to complete your 5-panel drug screen (including marijuana – regardless of state law, no exception can be made for even prescription medical marijuana). The drug screen must be completed within three (3) days of receiving the drug screen request email. If you are not able to complete the drug screen within 3 days, please reach out to request an extension. If there is an issue with the drug screen, you have the opportunity to dispute it. If you don’t pass the drug screen, the offer is rescinded and you are ineligible for hire at Insitu or at any Boeing company. If you don’t pass the BI, the offer is rescinded and, depending on why the background didn’t pass, you may be ineligible for any employment at Insitu or any Boeing company.

By now, you and your recruiter have developed a relationship. Talk to them if you think something may come up. When we receive the BI and drug screen results, the recruiter reaches out directly to advise you of the results and to reconfirm your start date with you. If the start date is changed you will need to sign a revised offer letter. Once we have received the revised offer letter, or if nothing has changed, the recruiter completes the hire and you receive an email with first day instructions.

Will I be asked to complete a drug screen?

Yes, if you receive an offer you will have to complete a drug screening. Upon offer acceptance you will receive an email with instructions on how to complete your 5-panel drug screen (including marijuana. Regardless of State law, no exception can be made for even prescription medical marijuana).

Will the Background Investigation include a credit check?

We may, depending on the role. If you are applying for an accounting role, a position in finance, a director level role or any position above a director level a credit check will be run at the offer stage.
