Scan Eagle Video Exploitation System (S-VEST): A 5 day course covering imagery data supporting the Insitu UAS system.

In this course, you will perform hands-on lab work that will provide you with a detailed knowledge on how to capture, manage, and exploit video and metadata from the UAV.  This course provides a detailed overview of the entire UAS as well as focuses on the systems and applications that, combined, provide the foundation for image analysts to capture and process motion imagery data.

Academic studies in this course include the following:

  • How analog video and data is process/routed from the aircraft to the ground
  • Review TCP/IP and messaging protocols used for system to system communications
  • Review general networking and troubleshooting techniques
  • How to administrate Windows XP needed to maintain the systems
  • How analog video and metadata is combined to form Motion Imagery
  • Review Motion Imagery Standards and industry directions
  • Review digital video and encoding/decoding
  • How to use and configure the Terrasight suite of software for exploitation
  • How to produce geolocated snapshots and clips
  • How to send CoT messages from Terrasight to other systems
  • How to send CoT messages to and from I-MUSE and other systems
  • How to use I-MUSE for SA purposes and manage maps
  • How to send ESD data streams from I-MUSE
  • How setup chat clients and chat rooms for additional communication
  • How to setup each system in the field and understand hardware configurations

The course includes three 3-hr lab sessions that provide hands-on knowledge with system start-up, loading of required applications, attachment to the aircraft, initiation of an ESD feed, capturing and replay of motion imagery data and exportation of snapshots and clips for reporting purposes.  The labs also cover troubleshooting computer and network issues and how to isolate problems.

Upon the successful completion of this training course, you will not only be provided with an S-VEST quick reference guide, application documentation and a users manual but also receive of an SVEST Analyst certificate.
