The long-wave infrared (LWIR) imager has been in service during night operations since early 2007. It uses a DRS E6000 imager from the military supplier DRS Technologies, so parts are readily available, with a large military market investment.

High pan and tilt slew rates let you switch rapidly between multiple targets within the field-of-regard.
Range of motion allows surveillance of any target within the hemisphere below the aircraft.
