Gary Viviani: Vice President and Chief Scientist
PhD, MSEE, BSEE (Purdue University)Dr. Viviani is Insitu’s vice president and Chief Scientist. He brings extensive experience in computer-based system-control design, implementation, and manufacture.
His experience includes various non-reusable autonomous UAVs (smart weapons), aircraft landing systems such as Mobile Microwave Landing System (MMLS) and other systems involved with airborne surveillance, all while serving at Textron Defense Systems. Super fault tolerant design principles were successfully realized by a common autonomous system of hardware and software, VCS™, for all Varian Ion Implanter products, while serving as the director of control systems. Most recently, as the global vice president of engineering for LDS Test and Measurement (part of SPX Corporation), the same principles that have resulted in other leading edge products were applied to produce Dimension™, a next generation portable signal analysis system. This product development took advantage of the talents of engineers at multiple sites around the world, in a well-coordinated manner, in order to significantly improve time to market.
Dr. Viviani has authored various publications, patents, and portions of product brochures related to the above developments, as well as more scientific considerations while serving as a university professor.
