Curtis Chesnutt is Insitu's Senior Vice President of ScanEagle Programs with responsibilities for the company's training, integrated logistics support, customer program management and deployed operations.

Mr. Chesnutt came to Insitu from Scientific Applications International Corporation (SAIC) where he served as a senior project manager and business process mentor to U.S. Navy leadership.  Focusing on leveraging efficiencies to optimize existing resources, his efforts at SAIC served to optimize current and future force readiness.  

Before joining the private sector, from 1982 to 2008, Mr. Chesnutt served as a U.S. Navy Officer and Aviator.  Rising to the rank of Captain, he accumulated over 3,000 operational flight hours and served in a host of demanding billets. As Chief of the Strategy and Assessment Division (J56) of the U.S. Pacific Command, he was the chief advisor for political and military affairs, grand strategy and theater security cooperation in the Pacific area of operations. As Lead Commodore for the Helicopter Maritime Strike community, he oversaw the operational, administrative and training support for ten Helicopter Anti-Submarine Light (HSL) squadrons, two Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS), two Fleet Weapons Schools (FWS), the Pacific Air Forces Aviation Supply Division (ASD) and the North Island Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Detachment.

Mr. Chesnutt earned an MS in Public Administration, National Resource Management from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces and a BA in Education from Florida State University. He was a fellow at both the R. Rajaratnam School of International Studies and the Asia Pacific Center for Strategic Studies. He is certified as a U.S. Navy Financial Management Sub-Specialist and a Fixed and Rotary Wing Aviator. During his Naval service, Mr. Chesnutt earned numerous professional awards including the Defense Superior Service, Navy Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals. In his free time, he can often be found surfing or mountain biking when the weather is warm and on the mountain when the snow falls.
