Modify your aircraft to suit the needs of your changing environment

Whether you want to lower your acoustic signature for stealthier operations or to switch from gas to heavy fuel to ease logistics burdens, Insitu aircraft are built to conform to your needs.

  • Our heavy fuel engine was designed to meet the logistics and safety needs of the U.S. Navy.
  • Our hush muffler was designed to reduce our aircraft's already low acoustic signature.

Heavy Fuel Engine

Resolve Shipboard Logistics Dilemmas

Improve Engine Performance, Endurance

ScanEagle was the first unmanned aircraft in its class to be configured with a heavy fuel engine.  This resolved a logistics problem for the U.S. Navy and other customers with limited access to gas while improving engine performance and endurance.

The ScanEagle team logs the longest continuous flight by flying a ScanEagle with a heavy fuel engine for 22 hours and 8 minutes, completing the flight with a four-hour fuel reserve. (November 2006)

Electronic fuel injection is successfully flight-tested on the heavy fuel engine-equipped ScanEagle, providing overall improvements—especially in extreme temperatures and at high altitudes, including mountainous terrain. (January 2010)

Hush Muffler

Render the Aircraft Virtually Undetectable

Reconfigure Your Aircraft

ScanEagle’s low acoustic signature is further minimized with our hush muffler. Modular aircraft design makes aircraft conversion quick and easy with the ScanEagle Hush Muffler Kit.
